Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Introduction
Meet Adda ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have — particularly given that Meet Adda helps facilitate in-person meetups, which involves sensitive information like your location and who you're planning to meet.
This Policy is designed with reference to India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules. As Meet Adda expands beyond India, region-specific addenda (e.g., for GDPR/EEA or CCPA/California users) will supplement this Policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly: account details (name, email, phone number, date of birth, gender, password), profile information (photos, bio, interests, city), event and group activity (activities created, joined, RSVP status, community memberships), communications sent through the Service and support requests, and — if you choose to verify your identity — the ID or photo document you upload for that purpose.
Information collected automatically: approximate or precise location (with your permission) to show you nearby users, activities, and communities; device and usage data (IP address, device identifiers, browser type, app version, pages viewed, crash logs); and cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies and tracking" below).
Information from others: if another user reports you, invites you to an activity, or refers you, we may receive information about you from them. If you sign up via a third-party login (e.g., Google), we receive the profile information you authorise that provider to share.
How we use your information
We use your information to create and manage your account; show you relevant nearby users, activities, and communities (this is core to the Service and relies on location data); facilitate communication and event coordination between users; investigate reports of misconduct and enforce our Terms of Use and Safety Policy; send service-related notifications (event reminders, safety alerts, security notices); send marketing communications where you have opted in (you can opt out at any time); improve and secure the Service, including fraud and abuse prevention; and comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We process your data based on your consent (e.g., for location or marketing), performance of our agreement with you (providing the Service), and our legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention).
How we share your information
With other users: your display name, city, profile photo, and activity participation are visible to other users as part of how the Service functions. Your phone number and email are never displayed publicly. You control certain visibility settings in your account.
With event hosts: if you RSVP to an activity, the host may see your name and profile so they can coordinate the meetup.
With service providers: we share data with vendors who help us operate the Service — including Supabase (database and file storage), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (hosting), and Tawk.to (in-app customer support chat, which may set its own cookies to maintain your chat session) — under contractual confidentiality obligations.
For safety and legal reasons: we may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators, or other parties if required by law, to investigate a safety report, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Meet Adda, our users, or the public, or in connection with an emergency involving risk of harm.
Business transfers: if Meet Adda is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale in the future, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
Location data
Because in-person meetups are central to Meet Adda, location data deserves special note. We only access precise location with your explicit device or app permission. You can use an approximate location or manually set a city instead of enabling precise location, where the feature supports it. You can revoke location permission at any time via your device settings, which may limit features like nearby discovery. We do not share your live, real-time location with other users unless you explicitly opt into a specific feature that we clearly label as such.
Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and maintain safety records — for example, records related to a user banned for misconduct may be retained longer to prevent re-registration.
Cookies and tracking
Meet Adda uses essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember preferences. Our in-app customer support widget, Tawk.to, may set its own cookies to maintain your chat session across page loads. We do not currently use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, though clearing essential cookies will sign you out.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act and other applicable law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate or incomplete data; request erasure of your data, subject to legal retention requirements; withdraw consent (e.g., for location or marketing) at any time; nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, as provided under the DPDP Act; and raise a grievance with us, and subsequently with the Data Protection Board of India.
You can access, edit, or delete your profile at any time from your Profile settings. To request full account deletion or a copy of your data, or to exercise any of the rights above, email us at meetadda.com@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Grievance contact
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made thereunder, and the DPDP Act, grievances relating to this Policy can be raised with the Meet Adda team at meetadda.com@gmail.com. Meet Adda is not yet incorporated as a registered company; once it is, this section will be updated with a formally designated Grievance Officer.
International data transfers
As Meet Adda expands beyond India, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including India, where our servers or service providers are located. We take steps to ensure such transfers comply with applicable data protection law, including using appropriate contractual safeguards.
Children's privacy
Meet Adda is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we learn a minor has created an account, we will delete it. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please report it to meetadda.com@gmail.com.
Data security
All data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use row-level security so that users and services can only access data they are authorised to see, and encrypt data in transit. OTP-based phone verification adds an additional authentication layer. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via the Service or email, and update the "Last updated" date above.
